In my time, a summer will never pass without me painting a scene or two with ironweed.
It's one of my favorite wildflowers because it's tall and rich–sadly I have
only one of these qualities myself–I'm tall. Ironweed can make a
bland landscape look spectacular such as this field in full bloom
in southeast Owen County.
